A unique blog by a man of many talents. Yes I am Dr Geebers. A crazy man who fell on hard times. Yet I pulled myself out of the gutters of life by creating loose pebble sculptures on U.K. beaches and poetry rhymes. From being no one with nothing to walking the coast of the U.K. 6800 miles, creating on 40+ beaches and moving over 2000 tonnes of pebbles/stones. While living outside with no sponcership or funding.
This video is about me talking about me walking away from Brighton in 2009 to sort my life out.
I tried this many times before to no avail and always messed up at the first hurdle.
Then again people said your only doing what you do to become famous, I knew this was not the case.
I was only doing this because I have an addictive personality which can be a nightmare to control.
So I knew my journey was going to be a struggle.
Not only that I also knew that many people would not believe one man under such a daft name was going to out and attempt to do something with nothing for nothing.
All money raised was for me to enjoy the journey as much as possible and supply the items that I needed. Remember I had no back up, no funding, no kit when I set off only determanation to succeed.
Yes succeed in sticking to my rule of no drinking to after five at night. That is after I use to drink five bottles of brandy a day. People loved my art that much they even went out of their way to buy these for me when I was doing my art. Sometimes I had to rob my own or bust with my poetry rhymes to raise funding for my addiction which was in my head.
Here is a small video put together to show people what one man has done to change his life round for the better.
It is a Homeless Awareness Walking Tour of the UK coastline.
Yeah one man one mission which started from a drunken bet turned into an amazing challenge.
Please feel free to comment.
Even though I hit a few newspapers on my journey and local TV stations no homeless charities wanted to get involved with what I was doing because I was homeless.
Now the journey is completed and I am no longer homeless I still finding it difficult to get homeless charities involved with this project.
How are homeless people meant to change their lives around when even the charities don't seem to care.
I had no benefits to help me out because I was on the move.
I had no source of income coming in either.
I had nowhere to live at the start.
Yet creating my art gave me hope that maybe one day I could help other people who are struggling in life a chance to do something.
Once the book is finished then I am willing to do the journey again to promote the book and maybe take 2 0r 3 people with me to help change their lives around.
Only this time it would be nice to get sponsorship or some backing from homeless organisations to make this all happen.
If you are interested in what I do and believe that a big UK tour could happen again. Please do not hesitate to email drgeebersthepebbleman@hotmail.co.uk
I believe in what I do and know that a lot of people want help and need help here in the UK and around the world.
Maybe just maybe in the future I can provide that opportunity through art to help myself and everyone around me beat poverty.
